Be-Mobile is a European market leader in smart mobility solutions, with headquarters in Ghent (Melle). We develop and sell technological solutions for electronic toll collection, multi-modal route planning and electronic fare collection. We also offer advanced solutions to measure and manage the traffic flows to put travelers, cities, road authorities, parking operators and logistic companies in control over their mobility processes.

To strengthen our team, Be-Mobile is looking for an Algorithm Engineer who is eager and interested in working in a cutting-edge, socially engaged environment.

As an Algorithm Engineer at Be-Mobile, you understand that traffic has a major impact on driver journeys and business operations. You are a service minded tech guru who is responsible for launching our Connected Vehicle and Traffic Platform (CVTP) into the European market.

Developing new algorithm to support Be-Mobile’s Connected Vehicle and Traffic Platform means a wide range of challenges and activities:

  • Connecting vehicles throughout their journey will be your primary mission
  • Frequent brainstorming with the team on how to accommodate specific feature requests into our connected platform
  • You will translate and implement designed features into high-quality micro-service oriented Golang or Java code
  • You align the long-term product feature roadmap with project specific requests
  • You take charge in checking and testing your own work (and reviewing that of others) to ensure high quality architectures
  • Documenting these new solutions so others can easily integrate them in their own projects
  • You keep an eye on the operational environment and a clear overview on the current developments
  • You will use our big data to its fullest potential and as an asset for innovation

Job requirements


As an algorithm engineer, your most important asset is your mind. You have a problem-solving algorithmic attitude to find creative solutions and you are not afraid to step up and get things done.

Additionally, we are looking for the following skillset:

  • You are intrigued by technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Ceph, CI/CD, Grafana, …
  • As we use Golang throughout most of our technology stack, eagerness to learn this language is paramount. Experience with Java is seen as a plus
  • You are able to research academical principles and shape them into a practical usable context
  • You can autonomously interpret and translate functional requirements into architectural solutions
  • You can design, transform and apply algorithms into code
  • Experience with GIS, FCD, graph theory, plateau planning and/or related algorithms such as Dijkstra’s SPF and A* are seen as a plus
  • You are interested in product development
  • You are passionate about (smart) mobility, and are eager to address the traffic challenges we face today
  • You have a positive attitude and appreciate a good, fun working environment
  • You can first make it work, then make it better
    • You are fluent in Dutch and/or English
